The Official of Drug and Food Control Affairs has advised the people to avoid the treatment of Coronavirus with Chlorine Dioxide. He explained that what is being circulated in social media about medical claims “Miracle Mineral Solution” is false. It is about a product that is used for clothes and its use for Coronavirus treatment is incorrect. It is not scientifically proven and that the product is not permitted by the Ministry of Health for consumption.
The Official stated that the product by specialists in the Department of Prevention of Infection and Sterilization on April 8 this year. It turned out that “Miracle Mineral Solution” contains chlorine dioxide ClO2 which is a liquid used for sterilization and disinfection of surfaces and devices. According to specific technical requirements the product protects from airborne viruses, bacteria, and fungi but is not scientifically or medically proven with such a product or similar forms.
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the Ministry of Health in the State of Qatar, and the Sultanate of Oman and the Jordanian Food and Drug General Authority have already warned against using and suspending this “Miracle Mineral Solution”.
The Food and Drug Administration of America has also warned against using these “Miracle Mineral Solution”, on April 8, 2020. People who consumed such solutions are recorded several side effects including respiratory failure, low blood pressure, liver failure, low blood cells, severe vomiting, and severe diarrhea.
The official also confirmed that the product is not registered with any of the international regulatory bodies. The regulatory bodies mentioned in the circulation announcement in social media are not true. There is no scientific evidence to prove the safety and effectiveness of the product.
He also advised to use only registered and approved medical products for prevention or treatment, and to avoid coronavirus treatment with Chlorine Dioxide or by any unauthorized medicine.
